Tour the Light

Cancelled for 2022 Season

2022 Summer Tours

Saturdays – Father’s Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend

In March Cloverland Electric detected a ground fault on the underwater power cable going out to the DeTour Reef Light.  The power was shut off and now we have a big challenge to determine the best way to locate the problem area and fix or replace the cable.  Due to ice and the slow spring thaw this will be a time consuming process.  We feel it is best to cancel all Tour and Keeper programs for the 2022 season.

For those people who love to visit lighthouses, a tour of the DeTour Reef Light is indeed an outstanding experience.  It is rare that lighthouse lovers get to visit an offshore lighthouse let alone one that is not on an island but rather is built on a 60’ by 60’ crib sitting about one mile offshore in 24’ of water and is still an active aid to navigation.

In 2003 and 2004, $1.2 million was spent on restoring the DeTour Reef Light to its original 1931 condition, and, in your time spent here, you will get to see it all, and photograph it all, while walking in the footsteps of the original lighthouse keepers.  We hope you enjoy your tour as much we know we will enjoy taking you on this adventure.

Children accompanied by the parents or guardians receive a 50% discount on the cost of the tour.  For detailed information on tour schedules and prices, or how to make a reservation or view our color brochure, click on the links below.
